Manuel Farinha came over to Canada from Portugal in 1958. He quickly realized how promising the land was here and that he would be able to start a life for him and his family. Wife Felicidade and daughter Fernanda (Maria) joined him in 1959 in Neramata BC where he worked as a farm laborer. In September of 1966 Manuel and Felicidade welcomed son Alfredo (Fred) and later that year bought 20 acres in Osoyoos on 45th street.
